Pheasant Run Goes Green

As of January, Pheasant Run joined an exclusive group of clubs. Of over 650 Ontario clubs, we became the 51st to attain full Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Accreditation. With the increasing need for accountability in pesticide use, we are positioned very well to make considered decisions for use on the course.

The IPM Accreditation naturally leads to our next environmental project. A membership in the Audubon Co-operative Sanctuary Program commits us to using Best Practices in areas of:

  • Environmental Planning
  • Wildlife and Habitat Management
  • Chemical Use and Reduction
  • Outreach and Education
  • Water Conservation and Quality
In a nutshell, we are making a huge commitment to protect this property, its environment and wildlife for the future.

Gardener Martine Evans, Consultant Lesa Stadnek and I will be at the lead of this program. We hope that players and guests at Pheasant Run will take a sense of pride in this project as well. In the clubhouse there will be regular communication on the program. This will include a 'Spotter's Log' to note any wildlife YOU see on the property. There will also be a regular posting of photos taken on the golf course.

I am taking a tremendous sense of pride in this project and will be providing regular updates on our progress. I hope you will see and spread word of the good things happening at Pheasant Run.
