Recently, the Ontario government passed legislation to ban cosmetic pesticide use. Already in compliance with this legislation, Pheasant Run is now entering the final certification stage in the Government of Ontario's voluntary pesticide reduction program. Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is the process of suppressing pests (insects, turf diseases, and weeds or unwanted plants) using a fully holistic approach. With economics and the environment in mind, we will be able to maintain a healthy and eco-friendly landscape here at Pheasant Run. All the people who are involved in the IPM program at Pheasant Run have years of experience and are well educated in the principles of IPM. All of our pesticide applications at Pheasant Run are done with economic “thresholds” and aesthetics in mind while keeping the environment and our customer's safety a foremost priority. We have successfully passed our Level II accreditation for two years now and eagerly await the Level III site audit to take place this summer. Successful completion of the site audit make us one of only forty golf courses in Ontario to have attained full IPM Accreditation. Please feel free to submit any questions or concerns with regards to our IPM program here at Pheasant Run to me and I'll provide you with a prompt reply.
Thank you and enjoy the golf season.

Fifteen seasons on the Grounds Crew of one course is fairly uncommon in the golf industry. But, Gord Druery will successfully reach that milestone this season. Born and raised in the Newmarket area, Gord has given a huge chunk of his life to Pheasant Run and the Evans family. After spending five seasons at Evans Turf Farm Gord had the opportunity to move over to Pheasant Run after the sod farm shut down. When asked what has kept him with the Evans family for twenty years he stated“I like my job, and I like working for the Evans family”.
Gord knows much of the property like the back of his hand, but his favorite nine holes is definitely the Highlands . His favourite hole, however, is Midlands number six ..."if I could only figure ut how to play it". Cutting tees and aprons is his preferred job on the course, though his versatility has opened his passion for the gardens. When asked how long he plans on calling Pheasant Run home, he states “I'll work here till the day I die”.
Congratulations Gord, and here's to twenty more years.
